God and family are what are truly important to Coach DeMeco Ryans aka 59 COACH. Just ask his mom, Ms. Martha. “He always has time for God.” On January 31, 2023, Coach DeMeco Ryans signed a six-year contract and was announced as the next head coach of the professional football team that I have been personally rooting for every Sunday since 2002; the Houston Texans. Let us learn about our new professional football team head coach and his family, one of the oldest independent coeducational schools in greater Houston, an amazing church that covers the entire family, what the Ryans family could want in their new home, and a trio of homes that could suit the needs and wants of the Ryans family.
Our New Professional Football Team Head Coach And Family
Coach DeMeco Ryans was born on July 28, 1984 in Bessemer, Alabama. He has two older brothers named Travis and Lodist and a sister named Serena. Coach Ryans attended Jess Lanier High School. He was listed as the No. 39 inside linebacker prospect in the nation from the class of 2002 and considered a three-star recruit by Rivals.com. He picked the University of Alabama over Mississippi State University. Coach Ryans started his career by earning a role on special teams and backup linebacker in his first season with the University of Alabama. By making great improvements every year in his college career, he went on to become Second-team All-SEC in 2004, First-team All-SEC, and the SEC's Defensive Player of the Year for his performance in 2005. Coach Ryans was named the 2006 Cotton Bowl Classic Defensive MVP and received the NACAA Top Eight Award (Class of 2006). Following his senior season he received the Lott Trophy for his combination of athletic excellence and off-the-field achievements, and was recognized as a unanimous First-team All-American.
Coach DeMeco Ryans was selected with the first pick of the second round (33rd overall) in the 2006 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. He was the highest-selected University of Alabama linebacker since 1997. Though he had been an outside linebacker in college, he earned the starting middle linebacker position due to his excellent performance in the NFL preseason. Coach Ryans was named the AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year after finishing second in the league with 31 more tackles than the next rookie. In 2007 he was named a First-team All-Pro linebacker. Coach Ryans was also selected to the Pro Bowl in 2007 and again in 2009.
Coach DeMeco Ryans met his wife, Jamila, while playing for the Houston Texans. They married in Pearland, Texas, on June 29, 2013. Jamila is a registered nurse and a non-profit director at the DeMeco Ryans Foundation. She has two younger brothers named Jonathan and Jason White. Coach DeMeco Ryans and Jamila have two sons named DeMeco Ryans, Jr(MJ) and Micah and one daughter named Xia.
On February 28, 2017, Coach DeMeco Ryans was hired by the San Francisco 49ers as a defensive quality control coach. In 2018, he was promoted to inside linebackers coach. In 2021, he was promoted to defensive coordinator. In 2022, Coach Ryans' unit finished as the top defense in football.
The Oldest Independent Coeducational School In Houston
The Kinkaid School is the oldest independent coeducational school in Greater Houston. It was founded in 1906 by Margaret Hunter Kinkaid. The school is a premier independent college preparatory school serving students from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. The student body is divided into the Lower School (PreK - 4th Grade), the Middle School (5th grade - 8th grade) and the Upper School (9th grade - 12th grade). The Kinkaid School stresses academic accomplishment alongside social development, athletic participation, enjoyment of the arts, and ethical behavior. The school’s focus is the whole child, the whole family, and the whole community. Their educational community offers a superior education that nurtures strong, well-rounded individuals and develops leaders. In a 2015 national survey, The Kinkaid School was one of the 50 "Smartest Private Schools in the United States." The school is also known for its quiz bowl team. Their team was ranked first place nationally in the 2021-2022 season.
Amazing Church That Covers The Entire Family
It’s refreshing to know that God and family are what are truly important to Head Coach DeMeco Ryans. As a way to welcome him to H-Town I want to share with him about my community of worship. For 14 years my family and I have been faithful members of Bethel’s Family Baptist Church where Pastor Walter August, Jr is our Pastor. He is truly a visionary and Kingdom pioneer.
In 1994, Pastor August organized and founded Bethel’s Family Baptist Church with his wife, three sons, and six committed adults. Today the church presently ministers to over 13,000 people. Our mission is to love and lead all people into a new life change in Jesus Christ. Our values are 1.) Total Dependence on God – Apart from God we can do nothing, 2.) High Expectation – God’s provision deserves our greatest commitment, and 3) Mutual Respect – We treat each other with love and care. Our Core includes 1.) Eternal Impact, where we seek to make a forever difference in people’s lives and 2.) Generational Relevance, where we communicate the unchanging message of Christ to an ever-changing world. Through our ministry 8,300 people have received salvation in Jesus Christ. Ten-thousand people have been baptized in the Holy Trinity. Five-million pounds of food have been distributed through our food pantry. $180,000 has been awarded toward student scholarships. Over 3,000 missionaries have been equipped, trained, and deployed on international missions through Bethels Global Reach. Our missionaries have impacted more than 300,000 people in 12 countries. On Sunday we have three worship service times - 7:00, 9:00, and 11:00 a.m. while the Bethel’s Kids-Children’s Ministry is available at two times, 8:45 and 10:45 a.m. Bethel’s Family Baptist Church broadcasts every service on the weekend and during the week on their YouTube channel, @BethelsFamilyTV. We have ministries that cover the entire family from infants, kids, youth, young adults, middle-age adults, senior adults, women, and men. Our programming eclipses the entire week with the church and empowerment center open every day. The parents of Houston Texans’ 2nd year Safety, Jalen Pitre, are members as well. Since Jalen was a youth, he and his family have spent many years at Bethel’s Family Baptist Church.
What The Ryans Family Could Want In Their New Home
If Coach DeMeco Ryans and his family gave me the honor to serve them in finding their new home I would imagine they could want a grand yard with plenty of room for Xia, MJ, and Micah to play. A huge open living room and kitchen area great for entertaining guests, more specifically players and coaches of the Houston Texans. They could want a place that Coach Ryans and his wife Jamila would be proud to bring people. A great space to discuss growth and partnership opportunities within the DeMeco Ryans Foundation. The new home could have an amazing media room. An area perfect for watching game tape and determining a winning strategy for an upcoming football game or just enjoying a movie if Jamila and the kids want to experience some family time. How about a man cave specifically for Coach DeMeco Ryans. It would allow him to detach from the daily grind of leading men and get away to unwind, reflect on the day, and resharpen the ax. There could be a special space for Jamila Ryans to
indulge herself in activities that really speak to the dreams and aspirations that are important to her. We absolutely must have a space for Coach Ryan’s mother, Martha. I know Bessemer has always been home for her and she mentioned in a recent interview that she loved Houston when Coach Ryans was in red and blue from 2006 to 2011. She, laughingly, shared that she wanted to move to Houston back then but nobody else in the family wanted to come.
When considering location I imagine they could want a home near NRG stadium to avoid the Houston traffic on a daily basis. Maybe a home close to the outstanding Texas Medical Center in the event Jamila wants to reconnect to the Houston Medical community, remembering her background as a registered nurse. They could want a home near The Kinkaid School or Bethel’s Family Baptist Church in the event they choose to explore these institutions. The Ryans’s could definitely want a home near a park and other recreational opportunities for the Ryans kids as well as near grocery, dinning, and other shopping opportunities.
